Free gift!

I watched a video on YouTube yesterday where a guy stood on street corners and other locales in the Boston area trying to give away "free money." He simply stood there with a fistful of dollars and asked people if they would like some money. "Free money! Free money! I am trying to give away money to anyone who wants it", he would shout.

In the edited version of the video that I watched not one person took him up on the offer.
Lots of lookers but no takers...

My iWitness...

The gift of salvation is not free.
It cost the Son of God his very life...
But the good news is that the death and subsequent resurrection of Jesus has set us free.
The gift of salvation is free to anyone who is willing to say, "Yes... I would like that."

But how many of us simply walk on by, muttering to ourselves, "I am sure there is some kind of catch. Some sort of strings attached. I'll take him up on the offer when I have more time on my hands."

What free gifts (I know that is redundant to say "free gift", but you get my point!) will we pass on today?
The gift of a compliment from someone who admires a certain quality about us?
The gift of encouragement?
The gift of a smile?
The gift of laughter? (I don't have time for that! I've got serious business to take care of!!)
The gift of a nap?
The gift of God's arms wrapped around us, holding us, offering warmth, security, grace and love?

Lots of lookers...
How many takers?

And that's my iWitness...
Laugh often and Fear not!
David!

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
(Romans 6. 23)
