Refueling...

After a week's vacation to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Julie and I finally arrived home yesterday around 3:10 in the afternoon.
Our time in Hilton Head was relaxing, restful and recreational.
It was also a much needed time to "refuel..."

My iWitness...

I believe it was Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church in Southern California that once said about "refueling"...

Divert daily
Withdraw weekly
Abandon annually...

The human body and human spirit was meant to live in a seasonal way.
This is why we have the Sabbath - a day of doing nothing. A day of rest. A day of worship.
We push it hard for six days and then we rest.
Or do we?

I just read a Facebook post of a good friend of mine who had just worked for 14 days straight.
How long can we push ourselves without a break?

When was the last time you spent a day doing nothing?

How did it feel when you took that much needed nap?
How was it to just sit and recreationally read a book?
Do you feel as guilty as I do?!!
Shouldn't we be productive?
Shouldn't we be contributing to the betterment of society?
Get off your rear and get going!!!!

Where do these voices come from?
They are literally killing us.

One thing I have discovered over the years is that for me to do anything with any type of regularity, I have to be "intentional."

Take some time today to write down some "me" time on your day timer, your calendar, or your electronic device that is attached to the palm of your hand.

It's time to be intentional about "refueling"...
Otherwise, you're going to be running on empty.
And we all know, we can't do that for very long.

Pull over...
Relax...
Rest...
Recreate...
Refuel...

And that's my iWitness...
Laugh often and Fear not!
David!

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days you shall labor, and do all your work,  but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates.  For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.(Exodus 20. 8-11)
