The Front Porch

The evenings in Iowa as of late have proven to be those kind of summer nights where the temperature, the humidity, the arrival of "lightning bugs" and the cacophony of the symphonic orchestra of crickets converge in such a way so as to create the "perfect storm" of desire to sit out on the front porch and absorb the majesty of this night time concert.

The best part has been that the aforementioned attributes of the evening are trumped by one thing and one thing alone... private, intimate and simple conversation between two people who are winding down the day with one another.

It doesn't take long.
It doesn't last long.
But a few moments together away from the distractions of the world have meant the world to me over the last few nights...Thank you Julie...

And it's all taken place on the "Front Porch."

My iWitness...

Jesus talks of going to a place to prepare a place for us. Jesus informs us that there are many rooms in the home that He is preparing for you. I wonder if this heavenly mansion has a front porch... with rocking chairs... with fresh squeezed lemonade... with lightning bugs lighting up the evening sky...with crickets drawing their bows across their wings...with enough moisture in the air where you can feel it lightly land on your skin...with an air of real quietness at the end of a busy day...with deep, intimate, personal, trusting, at ease conversation.

Now that I reflect upon it...I think I have been experiencing a little bit of heaven on earth on my own Front Porch...

So can you...
It doesn't take long.
It doesn't last long.
But a few moments away together with God from the distractions of the world could mean the world to you if you will take the time to discover, find and/or create your own
"Front Porch."

Jesus did it all the time...

"And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed." (Mark 1. 35)

Come on out... have a seat... rock a while
God loves sitting with you
On the Front Porch...

And that's my iWitness...
Laugh often and Fear not!
David!
