What were you thinking?

Typically we use the phrase, "What were you thinking?" when someone has done something rather inexplicable or rather inexplicably stupid!
Yesterday, this phrase kept running through my mind as I went on a three mile run through the neighborhood....

As I ran by...

The man sitting in the van with the handicapped sign hanging from the rearview mirror... were you thinking, "I used to run like that. Now look at me... I can hardly get in and out of my van due to my weakened state."

The 85 year old lady limping her way to the St. Anthony's Catholic Church... were you thinking, "I've been walking to church my whole life long. I am not about to let a limp keep me from worshiping my God."

The family in the mini-van that was getting ready to pull into St. Anthony's Catholic Church... were you thinking, "I wish that man would run to church instead of running by it."

The overly obese woman who was pulling into the parking lot of "Donut Boy"... were you thinking, "Why can't I get out and exercise? Why am I reduced to this daily routine?"

The other runner coming my way, running twice as fast as I was... were you thinking, "I hope I am never that heavy and never that slow as that man coming toward me."

The couple walking stride for stride...were you thinking, "Wow... another great day to be out in the beauty of God's creation walking side by side with the love of my life!"

My iWitness...

What were you thinking as you read through this "iWitness"?

Two things are true...
#1 - I have no idea what you were thinking! I have no idea what the other people were thinking as I ran by them.

#2 - God does know what we were and are thinking.

One of the best ways to discover what God thinks and to further understand what we think is to read God's word...

"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Hebrews  4. 12)

Here is a mystery...

As I read God's word...
God's word reads me...

"What were you thinking?"
Read God's word to find out...

And that's my iWitness...
Laugh often and Fear not!
David!
